About

I recognize the pattern because I spent a decade inside it.

Founder of ReDefine Digital — nearly ten years leading enterprise digital operations inside a Fortune 500 healthcare organization, plus 21 years of Army public affairs leadership.

My Story

The story

Organizations with genuinely excellent operations — skilled teams, real results, deep trust once someone’s through the door — lose customers before anyone walks in. Not because of the work. Because their digital front door looks like it belongs to five different companies.

I know this because I spent nearly ten years leading enterprise web and digital operations at a global life sciences company, shaping the systems that drove its global digital presence. I integrated an acquisition, led a $1.1M global rebrand across ten properties, rebuilt three enterprise websites of 1,000+ pages each, and separated a spin-off into an independent public company. I helped rebuild the centralized database that became the single system of record for Operations, scheduling, and the public site at once — tested under real pressure when it powered a same-week service launch across 500+ locations.

More recently, I was product owner for a multi-state nonprofit health system’s mobile patient engagement platform — Agile delivery, interoperability strategy, 100% sprint commitment on the platform’s largest release.

Underneath all of it: 21 years in Army public affairs, including deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan. That’s where I learned to be clear under pressure, and that leadership means doing the right thing when no one is watching.

How I Lead

A decade in enterprise digital transformation. Twenty-one years in Army public affairs and communications leadership. Held separately, on purpose — collapsing them into one round number would understate both.

What I believe

Technology should improve people’s lives, solve meaningful business problems, and create lasting value. My role is to create clarity, remove barriers, and balance innovation with governance, customer experience with operational excellence, and business outcomes with long-term trust.

Servant leadership

I lead by serving. Leadership begins with integrity, and with doing the right thing when no one is watching. I build teams empowered to solve hard problems, and I care as much about the people running the system as the customer at the end of it.

How I Work
Strategy through execution. The assessment and the implementation are the same engagement, done by the same person.
Compliance as design input, not a review gate at the end.
One practitioner, senior throughout. You get the person who did this work at enterprise scale.
Honest sequencing. I’ll tell you which third is still broken, even when the headline says two-thirds done.
Discovery before prescriptions. I don’t arrive with the answer. I interview the people who live with the systems first — because the fix that lasts is the one built around what’s actually breaking, not what looks broken from outside.
I carried this standard out of 21 years in Army public affairs. I’ve written the longer version of where it comes from and how it applies to consulting: Read “The Professionalism I Didn’t Leave Behind” →
How I Use AI

I use Claude and similar AI tools to help me write more clearly, move faster, and get more done as a one-person practice. I also use AI to turn published work into other formats — the podcast and video recaps on this site, for example, are AI-assisted productions built from articles I’ve already written and published here. I make them for the people who would rather listen than read. Everyone absorbs information differently, and I’d rather meet my audience where they are than limit who the work reaches.

Here’s the line I hold: AI speeds up my execution. It does not do the discovery. It can’t sit across from your operations lead and earn the candor that surfaces the real bottleneck, or build the trust that gets teams who don’t report to me aligned on one source of truth. That work is human — and it’s the heart of what you’re hiring.

What AI doesn’t do: it doesn’t invent claims, credentials, client outcomes, or experiences. Every fact, figure, and example on this site is mine, sourced, and reviewed by me before it goes live. I’m telling you this because it matters to me that you can trust what you’re reading and hearing here.
